About the Podcast

The COVID19 pandemic has resulted in major reforms to the commercial leasing regime in New South Wales. The reforms include amendments to the Retail Leases Act 1994, and implementation of the National Cabinet Mandatory Code of Conduct for Retail and Commercial Leasing, through the Retail and Other Commercial Leases (COVID-19) Regulation 2020. The effect of these changes has now been considered by the Supreme Court in a case, Sneakerboy Retail v Georges Properties Pty Ltd [2020] NSWSC 996. In this program, Maged Jebeile, from HWL Ebsworth in Sydney, reviews this decision, and the practical implications for landlords and tenants.
