Melissa has been practising law for 27 years, starting her career with the Australian Competition & Consumer Commission, before joining a firm to practise in commercial litigation (Local Court, District Court, Family Court), personal injury and property law (conveyancing, leasing, mortgages). Melissa then worked as a Senior Associate in large multinational firms, in property law, commercial litigation (District, Supreme, Federal Courts), franchising, insurance law, intellectual property and trade practices. She founded Shire Legal in 2003, servicing clients in business, property and estates.

Her current focus is researching and adopting new and innovative practices that are emerging within the legal industry, to bring Shire Legal to the forefront in delivering legal services to its individual, family and SME clients in the best possible way. In 2017, Melissa was appointed as a Notary Public of the Supreme Court of New South Wales and has since gained her Master of Laws (Applied Law), focusing on the areas of Business Law and Estate Planning. She is also an Accredited Advisor with Family Business Association.
