Taking a practical approach, this session will provide an overview of the relevant tax considerations property lawyers in Victoria should know. Specifically, the session will cover:

  • Practical applications of GST, with a spotlight on going concerns and the margin scheme
  • Land tax and dealing with exemptions (inc. primary production)
  • Stamp duty (inc. sub-sales, recent rulings regarding what is a land development and penalty interest)
  • Transfers between spouses, family members and duty implications
