Gender identity and diversity can potentially be the subject of discriminatory and unfair treatment. The presence of students who identify as LGBTI requires sensitive handling to ensure compliance with legislation and with the school’s duty of care. With a raft of religious freedom reforms on the horizon, it’s never been more important for schools to understand the new legislative framework and how they can best meet their duty of care to provide a supportive environment.
